Just sold my watch through Buy Your Watch and couldn’t be happier! Reached out to James for a quote and had the whole thing wrapped up in under 48 hours. The buyout price was fair, and he made everything super easy with clear instructions for drop-off and authentication. The process was seamless, professional, and lightning-quick — I walked out with my payout on the spot. Highly recommend them if you’re selling (or buying). Vacheron Constantin dates itself to 1755, and says so in its own Australian copy: "From servicing and restoring any timepiece produced since 1755, the Maison’s Master Watchmakers offer a broad variety of personalised services" That is the earliest founding year of the seven, 84 years before Patek Philippe. We will not write that the Maison has run uninterrupted ever since. The claim is repeated everywhere, we could not find it stated in a sentence on Vacheron Constantin's own site, and an unsourced sentence is not worth having on a page like this one.
The date earns its place for one practical reason. The archive goes back with it: Vacheron Constantin says it "carefully conserves and indexes all information related to its creations, back to the oldest antique pieces, as it has since the Maison was founded". A Vacheron Constantin that turns up with nothing but the watch can often still be given a documented history, which is not true of most things that arrive here bare.
What the Maison does not have in this country is counters. Its own store locator listed three Australian locations on 20 August 2026: boutiques in Sydney and Melbourne, plus the authorised retailer J Farren-Price in Sydney, which is at the same time one of Patek Philippe's four Australian points of sale. A Brisbane search returned "Sorry there are no results within 200 miles". Outside those two cities the nearest counter that has handled your reference before is interstate, which is worth knowing before you treat any first number as the market.
Vacheron Constantin offers an owner three separate documents about the watch, more than any of the other six, and is unusually exact about the limits of each. All three sit on its Heritage Documents page.
The one thing not printed is what any of them costs, or how long it takes: "You may contact our Ambassadors, who will inform you of the cost for these services." So ask first, and decide whether the document is worth chasing before you start.
On value the Maison sends you outward, advising owners "to contact a specialist auction house", and it will not discuss vintage pieces by telephone at all, "In order to protect your property".
Vacheron Constantin places sixth of seven for speed on our own ranking of how quickly these brands resell here. That placing is a judgement from our own dealing rather than a published statistic, and it is about liquidity, not quality: a Vacheron Constantin can be worth more per watch than most Rolex references and still take longer to place, simply because buyers here see one rarely.
Within the brand the split is sharper than on any of the other six. Overseas references move. Patrimony, Traditionnelle and the gold dress pieces take patience, and an offer on those has to carry the wait as well as the watch. Weeks rather than days is normal either way.
Benchmarking is harder too. On 20 August 2026 we opened two Overseas references on Vacheron Constantin's Australian site, and both gave the same answer where a figure should be: "PRICE ON REQUEST", marked "EXCLUDING TAX". The Maison declines to print a figure in the one place an owner would look for it, so documentation ends up doing the work a price would have done.
What moves our number most:
A certified watchmaker authenticates the watch in person before any money moves, and nothing should be polished or tidied beforehand. Send the details and we will give you the number and the reasoning behind it.
