Optional, but it is the single thing that lets us value a watch precisely. On a Rolex it is engraved between the lugs at 12 o'clock, under the bracelet. How to find it

Your best sense of what it would sell for. Not sure is a fine answer.

Optional, up to 10. You can also email them later to contact@buyyourwatch.com.au. Clear shots of the dial, caseback and bracelet help us value the watch faster.

By submitting this form you agree to our terms and conditions. Your watch is authenticated by a certified watchmaker before any money moves, and payment is sent by Osko once it is verified. Licence SHD-0017882, ABN 85 670 502 315.

I recently sold my watch through this dealer and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. James and Danny were both professional, responsive, and incredibly easy to deal with, making the whole process smooth and stress-free. Communication was clear the entire time, and I felt confident I was getting a fair and honest deal. Everything was handled efficiently, and the payment was prompt. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell a watch—great service all around.

Questions people ask before selling

The answers here are the same ones in our structured data, so what you read is what an assistant quoting this page will say.

Is the valuation really free, and do I have to sell?

Yes to the first, no to the second. The valuation and the authentication are free, and there is no obligation to accept an offer or to sell afterwards. We do it because it gives us the chance to make an offer, and we would rather you compare it against others than feel committed.

How long does the whole process take?

Typically 24 to 48 hours from submitting the form to money in your account. You send details and photos, we come back with a valuation, a certified watchmaker verifies the watch in person, and payment goes out by Osko or PayID once it is verified.

How do you work out what to offer for my watch?

We start from what the watch realistically sells for in the Australian secondary market right now, then account for condition, completeness and how quickly that particular reference moves here. An outright offer always sits below retail, because we carry the money and the resale risk. Steel sports references sit closest to retail, dress and precious metal pieces sit furthest away.

Do I need the original box and papers?

No, we buy watches without them regularly. Box and papers do lift what a watch is worth, particularly on Rolex and Patek Philippe, so it is worth checking a drawer before you decide. A watch with no paperwork is authenticated the same way, on the movement, serial numbers, case and dial.

Which brands do you buy?

Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille, Vacheron Constantin, F.P. Journe and Cartier. These are the brands we know well enough to value accurately. If you have something else, select Other on the form and we will tell you honestly whether it is one for us.

Is there a minimum value for watches you buy?

Yes, $20,000 AUD. Below that figure, the cost of certified authentication and a secure handover eats the margin on a purchase, so we are not the right buyer and we would rather say so than make a low offer. If you are not certain what your watch is worth, submit it anyway: the valuation is free, the form has a Not sure option, and we will tell you honestly where it sits.

How does the watch get to you, and is it insured?

You do not post it blind. We arrange the handover once you have a valuation you are happy with, and the watch is authenticated in person by a certified watchmaker before any money moves. Nothing is committed until you have seen the offer.

How will I be paid?

By Osko or PayID straight to your Australian bank account, once the watch has been authenticated. Osko transfers usually land within a minute of being sent. We do not pay by cheque.

Is Buy Your Watch a licensed business?

Yes. ABN 85 670 502 315, and we hold second-hand dealer and pawnbroker Licence SHD-0017882. Both are publicly checkable, the ABN at abr.business.gov.au and the licence on the Consumer Affairs Victoria register, and we would encourage you to check them for any buyer you are considering, not just us.
