I recently sold my watch through this dealer and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. James and Danny were both professional, responsive, and incredibly easy to deal with, making the whole process smooth and stress-free. Communication was clear the entire time, and I felt confident I was getting a fair and honest deal. Everything was handled efficiently, and the payment was prompt. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell a watch—great service all around.

Just sold my watch through Buy Your Watch and couldn’t be happier! Reached out to James for a quote and had the whole thing wrapped up in under 48 hours. The buyout price was fair, and he made everything super easy with clear instructions for drop-off and authentication. The process was seamless, professional, and lightning-quick — I walked out with my payout on the spot. Highly recommend them if you’re selling (or buying). I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the market for a new piece. Top-notch service! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Everything you need to know about selling your F.P. Journe watch

How do I sell my F.P. Journe watch?

Fill out our online form with your F.P. Journe details, send us photos, and we'll provide a free valuation. Our certified F.P. Journe experts will authenticate your timepiece and provide payment by Osko once the watch is verified.

What F.P. Journe models do you buy?

We buy F.P. Journe models valued at $20,000 AUD and above, including Chronomètre Souverain, Octa, Tourbillon Souverain, Répétition Minutes and many more. Our experts specialise in F.P. Journe authentication and valuation.

How quickly can I get paid for my watch?

Once authenticated by our certified watchmakers, payment is sent by Osko bank transfer, which typically lands in minutes once sent. The entire process takes 24 to 48 hours from submission to payment.

Do you buy watches without boxes or papers?

Yes. While original boxes and papers increase value, we buy F.P. Journe watches in all conditions. Our authentication process verifies authenticity regardless of accompanying documentation.

Is your F.P. Journe authentication process reliable?

Yes. Our F.P. Journe authentication involves expert analysis of the distinctive movement construction, unique complications, and exceptional finishing that define authentic FPJ pieces. We use specialist verification steps and secure payment methods before completing a purchase.

Why should I choose you for selling my F.P. Journe?

We specialise in F.P. Journe's exceptional independent watchmaking, understanding the unique value and rarity of these collector timepieces. We provide market-backed valuations, Osko payment on authentication and a secure authentication process for Australian sellers.

Three to four watches a day, and a reference that is two letters

F.P. Journe is the second youngest of the seven and by a distance the smallest. Its own chronology records that "In 1994 François-Paul Journe started designing his vision of contemporary watchmaking and presented in 1999, a collection of wristwatches signed F.P.Journe". Only Richard Mille is younger.

Scale is the fact that shapes everything else about selling one. Describing the Geneva workshops on rue de l'Arquebuse, in a building "dating back to 1892", Journe is quoted on that same page: "There we produce 3 to 4 watches a day." That rate is why the watch is rare. It is also why the number of people in this country who would recognise it across a room is small, and both halves of that end up in the offer.

No other of the seven uses a letter code where a reference number would be. Its collections page prints one beside each model: Chronomètre Bleu is Ref. CB, Chronomètre Souverain is Ref. CS, Tourbillon Souverain is Ref. TV, Astronomic Souveraine is Ref. AST. The same code is reused for the Classique and the Boutique version of a model, so the reference tells you which watch you own but not which execution of it. What identifies your particular watch is the serial number on the case back and the invoice that came with it. Every quotation on this page is taken from F.P. Journe's own pages as they stood on 20 August 2026.

Restoration stops when the watch changes hands

One line on the service page matters more to a seller than anything else F.P. Journe publishes, and it is printed in capitals: "WATCHES THAT ARE NO LONGER PRODUCED WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ANY AESTHETICAL RESTORATION, EXCEPT FOR THOSE THAT STILL BELONG TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER." Patek Philippe pledges the opposite, to restore any of its watches regardless of age. F.P. Journe does not, once a discontinued model has left its first owner. If you bought yours new, selling it ends something the next owner cannot inherit, which is one reason some owners here look at a loan against the watch instead.

The certificate

From its warranty FAQ: "A certificate of authenticity can be issued. To do so, the Boutiques F.P.Journe will have to certify the watch. The document can be requested for any timepiece whose date of first sale exceeds 5 years from the date of the request. This document is nominative." Five years, and nominative, meaning it is issued to a person rather than attached to the watch. No price and no turnaround are published, and the route runs through a Boutique. There is no F.P. Journe Boutique in Australia.

The invoice

The document carrying the weight is the invoice, not a card: "The warranty is valid only with presentation of the purchase invoice from an authorized F.P.Journe retailer." Cover runs 36 months from a Boutique and 24 months from an authorised point of sale, with 12 more if the extension was filed within 30 days of purchase. The FFC and the élégante are covered for 5 years, and the Astronomic Souveraine for 99. The invoice is the thing sellers most often no longer have, so look for it before you look for the box.

The absences matter as much. Its customer service pages cover warranty, care and servicing and nothing else: no archive extract, no serial lookup, no theft register and no valuation service.

Slowest of the seven here, and the maker itself may want it back

F.P. Journe is the slowest of the seven to place in Australia and the buyer is almost always overseas. We rank it last ourselves, in our ranking of how quickly these seven resell here. There is no published data on this and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Slower means priced more cautiously, because we carry the watch as stock and wait, and saying so is fairer than dressing it up.

The Australian footprint is one entry. The point-of-sale list on F.P. Journe's own warranty extension form carries a single Australian name, the Espace at The Hour Glass in Sydney, and every Boutique offered on that same list is offshore. An Espace is not a Boutique, and the certificate route runs through a Boutique, so there is no way to obtain one without the watch leaving the country.

What moves the number, in order: the invoice and any certificate, then originality of case, dial and hands, then the model. F.P. Journe publishes no price on its product pages in any currency, so there is no retail figure for either of us to argue from.

Before you take our offer, ask the maker. Its Patrimoine Service, created in 2016, "repurchases rare watches in good condition" that are no longer in production, restores them and resells them through its Boutiques with a new 3-year sales warranty. There is no Boutique here, so that starts with an email, and it may well beat our number. If it does not, send photographs through the free valuation form, and payment goes by Osko once the watch has been through a bench in this country.
