Just sold my watch through Buy Your Watch and couldn’t be happier! Reached out to James for a quote and had the whole thing wrapped up in under 48 hours. The buyout price was fair, and he made everything super easy with clear instructions for drop-off and authentication. Richard Mille does not publish a founding year. The nearest thing to one on richardmille.com is a line about the first watch to carry the name, the RM 001 Tourbillon, launching the millennium. Every other maker on this site puts a year on itself and has an archive behind it. This one does not, and does not claim to.
What it does publish, and what actually matters if you own one, is a collections list that moves. As it stood on 20 August 2026, the RM 07-01, RM 037, RM 43-01, RM 65-01 and RM UP-01 were current. The RM 11-03 had gone from it entirely, and so had the RM 35-02, while the RM 35-03 was still there. A reference one digit away from yours can be in production while yours is not, so the number on the case tells you less than owners expect.
It is worth checking for yourself before you accept anybody's figure, because it decides who your buyer is rather than what the watch is. A current reference competes with new supply from a boutique. A discontinued one does not, and the pool of people who want that exact execution is fixed from here on. Neither is a fault. They are two different sales.
Richard Mille's own pre-owned page invites owners to sell into its network: "We encourage you to come and talk to our retailers should you wish to sell your timepiece. You just need to enter into the boutique with your timepiece along with everything it was supplied with." The programme dates from 2015 and resells with a 24-month international warranty that no independent buyer, ourselves included, can put behind a watch. You should know that route exists before you take ours. There is no Richard Mille pre-owned retailer in Australia, so it starts with a conversation rather than a walk in.
For an owner who is not selling into that network, Richard Mille publishes nothing: no archive extract, no serial lookup, and no stated route to a certificate of authenticity on a watch you intend to keep.
So the card carries everything. From the servicing page, read on 20 August 2026: "Each Richard Mille timepiece is accompanied by a unique warranty card embedded with a holographic security seal on its surface issued by our manufacture in Les Breuleux, Switzerland", and it "is paired with the serial number of the watch and will have the complete history of your timepiece". Any intervention requires it. Two more lines from the same page bear directly on a sale: servicing is advised "every 3 years", and "any intervention or service performed outside our network will completely void the warranty". A watch serviced elsewhere is not a bad watch. It is a watch with a shorter list of buyers.
Richard Mille sits fifth of seven for speed on our own ranking of these brands: the highest value per watch and the smallest local buyer pool, weeks rather than days, and often an offshore buyer at the end of it. No published figure ranks these brands for speed in Australia. This one is ours, and we would rather say the wait is real than pretend it is not, because the wait is in the offer.
There is nothing public to price against either. Richard Mille publishes no prices, in any currency, anywhere on its collections pages, and runs no Australian site, only a language switcher. Both sides of the conversation are working from private transactions, which is exactly why a second opinion is worth the trouble here.
The Australian footprint is a single address, Richard Mille Sydney on Bridge Street, and it is the only entry in the country on the brand's own store locator.
What moves the offer most is the holographic card, everything the watch was supplied with, a service history inside the network, and originality. Richard Mille's own site says aftermarket sapphire cases and stone setting mean "you will very likely reduce the value of your timepiece", and we price the same way, whatever that work cost to have done. If yours is the RM 43-01 Ferrari or the RM UP-01, say so: Richard Mille's own product pages record that both calibres were developed with Audemars Piguet Le Locle, and that is worth putting in front of a buyer. We release no money until one of our watchmakers has had the watch in hand, and the valuation before that is free and carries no obligation.
